The Body by Vi^TM Challenge makes sense from a fitness standpoint largely because our bodies are essentially machines that work best when given idea nutrition.  So whether your goal is to run a 5K, bike up a mountain or swim in the ocean, the best way to prepare your body for these activities is to ingest the proper nutrients to make sure your body fires on all cylinders!

I have been involved in the health and fitness industry for 20 years.  I was a 12-time IFBB Pro Figure Champion, including the 2003-2005 Arnold Classic Figure International Champion and the 2006-2007 Figure Olympia Champion, before retiring from competition in 2009.  In January 2010 I became aligned with ViSalus Sciences and became an Ambassador later that year.  Since then, I have helped two other professional athletes become Ambassadors as well.  Now I get to stay fit and healthy and teach people how to do the same, which is my absolute passion!

Our children are the future – and so is technology.  This isn’t breaking news.  But what happens when one becomes a detriment to the other?  That’s the unfortunate issue we’re facing as a country.  While today’s incredible technological advancements are increasing the ways we learn and conduct business, they’re simultaneously having an adverse effect on our kids.

Today, 32 percent of all children and adolescents in America qualify as overweight or obese.  Their eating habits and sedentary hobbies are quickly putting them at higher risk for health conditions associated with too much weight and too little physical exercise.

Whereas high-tech capabilities are catapulting early education years ahead of prior generations, how do we compensate for the loss of physical fitness, and the influx of cost-friendly fast-food chains?

Thankfully, the White House has addressed the issue.  An initiative headed by First Lady Michelle Obama has the ultimate goal of reversing childhood obesity and getting America’s kids healthy again.  Hers is a mission that not only impacts the health and well-being of children across the country, but potentially the economic bottom line of the United States for years to come.

Doing Our Part

Their premise is simple:  “Catch on now, so you don’t have to catch up later,” says rap star and It’s Time Kids spokesman Romeo Miller.  He and his father, Percy Miller, a five-time Grammy Award-winner and music mogul turned successful entrepreneur, are using their star and brain power to educate middle-school kids about the pitfalls of growing up in urban communities.

“What’s happening in many cases in urban communities is they’re only being marketed junk food, alcohol and cigarettes,” explains Blair.  Urban Born speaks to kids at a time when they are most at risk and with a voice they understand.  Using true stories  and music, Urban Born conveys critical messages through the 45-minute outreach programs they bring to urban schoolchildren.

Blair personally pledged $100,000 to jump-start a joint project between the Body by Vi Community Challenge, the It’s Time Kids program and Urban Born.  Together they’re working to eliminate childhood obesity in the United States.

When I work with new ViSalus clients starting their first Body by Vi^TM Challenge, I always recommend the same thing:  Don’t try to change everything, don’t start counting calories, don’t start a new exercise program – just replace two meals each day with Vi-Shape protein shakes for the first two weeks.  Just by making that one change, you will get 60 percent of your vitamins, lose weight or inches, feel better and sleep better.  Most important, you will believe in the ViSalus system and be ready to commit to other changes.  People need to trust a product.  They need to bring loyalty to a product.

Additionally, we go through many quality processes to ensure our products deliver what they promise.  Our products are made in cGMP facilities that are also FDA inspected.  This means we test our ingredients when they come into the plant for potency and purity.  We test during manufacturing to ensure consistent quality.  We test at the end of manufacturing to ensure we meet label claims.  We send our products to outside independent testing labs to verify all of the above, and then also test for heavy metals, PCBs and more.

“In addition to these quality processes, many of our products are also kosher,” Sommerfeld says.  This means that the Orthodox Union has approved every ingredient, and not just the ingredient but the manufacturer of each ingredient.  They also have strict standards for quality testing, how we store our ingredients, for our labels and more.”

Vi-Shape Shake

                Based on my experience, the Vi-shape shake is the best-tasting shake on the market today.  We use three different kinds of high-quality protein, so that we do not need to add fillers or fat, sodium and sugar to make them taste good.  We also use premium vanilla to provide outstanding flavor.  There’s a reason we call it “the shake mix that tastes like a cake mix.”  It is truly delicious!

Vi-Shape is also very versatile.  You can add whatever you want to the shake, and that makes it unique.  Since we use sucralose as a sweetener, instead of sugar; it is low in carbohydrates.  Many people, including myself, adhere to low-carb diets.

If you want more carbohydrates, you can add fruit.  You can also add more protein simply by adding another scoop of the shake mix.  Additionally, the glycemic index of the shake is very low, so it’s ideal for diabetics.
